PureMag®: The Future of Electronics Switching

⚡ PureMag®: The Future of Electronics Switching
There’s a revolution happening inside the tiny components that power our devices, and it starts with a relay. Whether it’s a testing machine, a piece of factory equipment, or something in a network server rack, relays play a key role in turning things on, off, and keeping them safely isolated. And for a long time, not much changed in how they worked. That is, until now…
A Century in the Making
As shown in the figure below, relay technology has advanced in discrete steps over the past 100 years—from bulky electromechanical designs to compact solid-state PhotoMOS relays introduced in the 1980s. Since then, progress has been largely incremental—until now. PureMag® marks a true architectural shift, combining magnetic isolation with high-speed switching and improved reliability. It’s a next-generation platform designed to overcome the limitations of aging optoelectronics and meet the needs of modern systems.
🔍 Why Relays Matter: Power Control, Signal Integrity, and System Safety
Relays are foundational to modern electronic design. They manage switching, isolate signals, and protect systems from electrical faults, often operating behind the scenes in applications ranging from test and measurement to industrial automation. While traditional relays like PhotoMOS have been widely used, they come with trade-offs: aging optoelectronics, temperature sensitivity, and limited current handling. PureMag® relays overcome these limitations—offering a next-generation relay platform that solves these legacy issues by incorporating proprietary and patented magnetic isolation that provides faster switching and enhanced reliability.
🧲 Meet PureMag: The Magnetic Upgrade
Integense’s PureMag® technology replaces LED-based designs with something far more robust: a miniaturized transformer built directly into the chip. This transformer provides isolation by using high-frequency AC signals instead of light, eliminating degradation over time and boosting electrical performance. Here’s what that means in practice:
- No LEDs = No wear-out mechanism, making PureMag relays far more reliable over time.
- High-frequency power and signal transfer allows for faster signal switching (as low as 13µs on / 30µs off – a 30X improvement).
- Ultra-low leakage currents (up to 20X lower), crucial for high-precision applications.
- Stable resistance and output across wide temperature ranges.
⚙️Built for Performance, Scaled for Your Requirements
PureMag relays are built using a compact, modular architecture where the device’s output stage is a separate chip, easily modified to meet customers’ unique tradeoffs in specifications. This design yields the smallest possible footprint; it achieves the lowest cost since it uses standard semiconductor manufacturing processes; and it provides the ultimate in customization since a simple change to this output stage can yield a purpose-built solution to meet any application’s exact needs.
The Company’s first products are available in a range of voltage options through the ITG32XX family:
- ITG3202 – ±24V operation, perfect for compact or lower-power systems
- ITG3204 – ±48V with ultra-stable performance and 0.87Ω typical on-resistance
- ITG3208 – ±80V and up to 2A of current, ideal for high-power switching
The devices come in either S-VSON4 or P-SON4 packages and are drop-in compatible with many existing PhotoMOS relays—making it easy for engineers to upgrade without redesigning their systems. Additional packaging options are available upon request.
